Goodbye 2023, what a year it has been...
What a year it has been. Tonight (14/12/23) is the last training session of the year, and I am quite sad to see it come to an end, but also extremely excited to what next year has in store for me with life, training and my career. To say it has been a whirl wind of a year is an understatement, I did not think for a second that I would be ending my year as a helper and well in my way to becoming a counsellor. I started the year off studying my first year of BSc (Honours) in Psychology at The Open University, the doors that this has opened for me so far is incredible. A few weeks ago I received my Higher Education Certificate in Psychology and all the hard work, dedication, and tears had paid off just for that little bit of paper with my name on.
I feel more confident in my work, knowledge and skills since studying my counselling course and completing my hours of training and skills practices. I feel like I have grown as a person this year, doing things for myself, things that I am scared of, and taking the jump to follow my dreams of becoming a counsellor. Each session and week is one step closer to the dream.
Ps. I am already looking at more training. courses, TA101 is calling my name in the new year...
I have met some amazing people along the way this year: my peers and tutors as well as friendships I have built while studying these courses.
My advice to anybody thinking about studying and following their dreams but who are too scared to make the jump.. just go for it. I can assure you the hard work pays off and the sense of accomplishment is well worth the money, time and commitment as well as a (few sleepless nights and tears), here and there.
I am looking forward to continuing my journey and taking you guys along with me.
Thank you for the support since I started AC.ASPIRINGCOUNSELLOR.
It means the world and more.
This is just the beginning!
